Lawrence was ready for race day he was pumped and full of energy however, his horse may have had another story. Lawrence was assigned Jazzaway, a black colt with a steady attitude. He was now a mature 4 year old who was ready to take on races he couldn't last year. Anyone from a distance could tell that Jazz was definitely a son to Jazzman with his demeanor's. Walking him to the track Lawrence stopped him tying the lead rope to the entrance bar. Walking around him, the jockey checked his knees and legs to make sure their was no heat in any of them from his last injury.
Lawrence didn't want to see a very great horse crash and when he felt nothing he smiled and then untied the rope to continue. "Alright Jazz, Let's show these young ones how its done." He said knowing the speed on this horse was tremendous enough. The two started out gentle giving Jazzaway time to wake up and build up his muscles. When Lawrence gave the right away Jazz went to an immediate fast pace gallop like he was running for his life. Jazz had a his own style of running that not even Lawrence could control. He pulled away from the railing as he switched gears coming along the back stretch.
It was a long stretch and his stride progressed greatly as the breathing of Jazz was perfect and steady. They would be reaching for the stars with this stretch as it was where many horses took off to use their energy, Jazz would be patient and wait for his opening. The stallion pushed off the ground his strides farther apart he moved his body sideways to reposition himself the proper way. "Alright Jazz the last turn here we go." He said to the horse Jazzaway understanding he gave it another shot and gave it all he got when now it seemed he was racing against time. Photographers could barely snatch a photo because of how fast he was going.
Coming to the end Jazzaway snorted through his nose making sure his rider would remain on his back he kept a steady fast pace as he passed the wire. The dirt all over his legs were proof enough of how hard he was pounding down on the dirt. This stallion was a natural born runner and Lawrence loved being on his back. He had some minor issues with his brother Livin' the Jazz but managed to deal with him by showing who was dominant in the pasture. Lawrence was proud of his achievements and would get him to the highest grade as he felt he earned it. Walking him back to the stables, Jazzaway flashed his tail from side to side like a flag as if to wave the track goodbye to wait for race day.
